Help the Beckers with Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Erin, one of Mel’s best friends from college.

In January of this year, the Beckers welcomed a beautiful, healthy baby girl- Brida. This past week, Brida went in for some upper GI testing that came back clear but revealed an enlarged cardiac silhouette. They were quickly admitted to the hospital where they received the devastating news that Brida was in severe heart failure with a very enlarged, barley-functioning left ventricle. Dilated cardiomyopathy. They arranged emergency medical transport and transferred her to UVA Medical Center.

The goal now is to treat her with medications in the hopes of making a full recovery, which one third of kids will. If she cannot tolerate the medications or does not respond to them, the conversation shifts to heart transplant (one third of kids will need one, the other third fall somewhere in between). Right now, she is tolerating the incremental increases in treatment and that is all good news!

Her little body is fighting hard and she is living up to the meaning of her name- strength.

Brida has a long road to recovery. All money raised will go directly to the Beckers to apply to medical bills as their precious girl fights the fight of her life. Anything is appreciated, but especially your prayers.
