Help the beloved horses of Venturing Hills Farm

Donation protected

This nightmare began February 3rd when Eddie fell suddenly - and at the time inexplicably -  ill. His subsequent death set into action a chain of hellish events that are still ravaging Venturing Hill as we speak. As Eddie had exhibited signs of neurological dysfunction bloodwork was done to establish a cause of death and the results were devastating - Eddie had died from the neurological form of EHV1.  This is an incredibly contagious disease with a mortality rate as high as 80%. EHV 1 is particularly dangerous for the very young and the very old - both demographics of which Venturing Hills has an abundance of.

EHV1 was most likely brought to Venturing  Hills when a horse was purchased in January from a farm that shortly after exhibited signs of an EHV1 outbreak. They made no effort to contact or warn Venturing Hills when symptoms were being exhibited. It took an 18 year old girl watching helplessly while the horse she saved for years to buy died in front of her. 7 more horses have become sick since then, with 3 new cases just today. The cost of the antiviral treatment required to give these horses a chance at survival is staggering amount for the drugs alone not to mention the extensive vet work surrounding a situation like this.

The vet bills are climbing hourly and your help is needed. Funds raised will go directly and immediately towards medical expenses, the bio security measures which have been implanted at great cost, and the additional skilled labour which is required to provide 24/7 care to the sick horses.

Any bit could make the difference - please consider contributing and show Venturing Hills they are not alone in this fight.

Weds Feb 17 -
From Anne Marie - The GoFundMe administration has asked that I provide a few details about myself for you all - I have to say I have been extremely impressed with the GFM protocol so far. I am not directly affiliated with Venturing Hills however I have gotten to know Rae and her team in Florida over the last two years. Additionally I have been lucky enough to meet more of the Venturing Hills family while clipping and teaching grooming clinics at Venturing Hills.

I was horrified to hear what was happening and fundraising was something that I could easily make time for but would be simply too much for anyone in the heat of the situation to take on.

So far funds raised have been primarily used to subsidize the cost of antiviral medication and the associated veterinary care, cover the substantial renovations required to build a self sufficient quarantine area, acquire two Haygain steamers and, perhaps most importantly pay the incredible and highly skilled staff who stepped up to answer our Facebook post. For those of you who have asked, yes, the owners of the two horses that passed away are being supported as well.

GoFundMe has a very strict protocol for accounts that are fundraising on behalf of someone else - this post detailing my involvement is mandatory and it will be reviewed by their management. The funds go directly from you to Venturing Hills through GoFundMe without me ever being financially involved.

Thanks doesn’t seem like enough - but thank you ❤️
