Help the Bernabe Family Rebuild After Eaton Fire
Donation protected
The Bernabe's are among the many victims of the Eaton Fire. They moved to Altadena 33 years ago in 1992 and epitomize the hardworking people from the Altadena community. Because of the fire, they didn't only lose their home and personal belongings but also precious equipment essential to run their family's landscaping business.
Thankfully, everyone is safe, but the fire left them with substantial losses that will take years and multiple resources to recover from.
Juan Bernabe and his team have been maintaining the landscaping of our house for many years. Their work ethic and professionalism have been exemplary. My wife (Emily Kubitskey) and I have been particularly touched by Juan's principles. A couple of months ago, the weed wacker accidentally flung a pebble toward one of our windows. The glass was shattered. Despite our insistence, Juan refused to share the costs of the window replacement. He told me "this is how my father taught me." Irma Bernabe is a warm and kind person who helps run the family business. She is also a published writer, whose children and fiction books have been have been translated to several languages.
I messaged Juan last Wednesday telling him that, given the fire situation, he should feel free to skip a week. He responded telling me that he would unfortunately have to skip a week because they "lost everything."
Any donation, big or small, would make a tremendous difference in helping us rebuild and move forward. Your generosity will go directly toward Juan and Irma's new beginning.
All funds will go directly to the Bernabe's to help rebuild their home and replace essential personal belongings and working equipment lost to the Eaton fire earlier this week.
In their words:
"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support we have already received. It is a reminder that even in the darkest times, compassion and kindness light the way. Thank you for considering our request and for standing with us as we rebuild and heal."
My name is David Cubek Quevedo, a client and friend of the Bernabe's and, upon learning about the Bernabe's losses, decided to help create this GoFundMe campaign. Please join in helping the Bernabe's with whatever donation you are able to make!
