Help the Big Bend Labor Council Support Family Promise
Donation protected
On Labor Day, September 2nd, 2024, The Big Bend Labor Chapter, AFL-CIO will be celebrating Labor Day with a public forum and funds drive for Family Promise at the American Legion Hall in Tallahassee. This is our 6th year in a row partnering with Family Promise of the Big Bend- Supportive Services for Veterans and Families to try to give back to our community. We will be accepting monetary donations for veterans who are experiencing homelessness at this event and before using GoFundMe. We are asking you and or your organization to support this event with this for a few things:
1. A monetary donation to Family Promise.
2. Reach out to your members to encourage participation and donations.
3. Join us on Labor Day at the American Legion hall for fellowship and the public forum.
We have an opportunity to help those that need our help and lack the voice and support that we, as unionists, enjoy all year. By providing these donations, we hope to help veterans and their families experiencing homelessness and help improve their quality of life.
In addition to the supply drive, from 11:00-12:30 we will hold a public forum featuring local labor leaders and elected officials on the state of the labor movement and politics in Florida. Confirmed public forum speakers include Leon County Democratic Party Chair Ryan Ray, LCTA President Scott Mazur, and Tallahassee Professional Firefighters President Joey Davis. Other likely speakers include City Commissioner Jack Porter, City Commission Candidate and past mayor Dot Inman-Johnson, and House Representative Allison Tant. Union members and their friends and families are invited to stay after for refreshments.
We hope that we can have your support in this endeavor, any donation will help those that are less fortunate than us. Donations can also be made via checks made out to Big Bend Homeless Coalition SSBVF.
Thank you for your time and generosity.
PS. Please feel free to share this with anyone that you think would be willing to help. Everyone can make impact.
