A little over a week ago, our sister Dana was brought via ambulance to the ER after her husband Dan came and checked on her and found her unresponsive. Dana had been sick for 2 weeks with Influenza A, and then she caught the stomach flu in the days prior to her being hospitalized. She'd been vomiting and unable to keep anything down for 5 days. A combination of extremely high blood sugar levels,  Influenza, and dehydration from the stomach flu, caused Dana to become dangerously ill. Upon arriving at the ER, she got a central line, was intubated and the team quickly realized Dana had gone into Ketoacidosis. They sedated her immediately and she has not woken up since. In the following days, it was discovered that Dana had a Pneumonia mass in on of her lungs on top of everything else! Dan's decision to call 911 undoubtedly saved Dana's life.

Dana is still in the ICU and intubated. She has a feeding tube and her blood sugar levels are continuing to come down. Dana's doctors are hopeful but cautious, as there are a number of hurdles before she is in the clear. Her kidneys and the potential threat of Sepsis are the main concerns. Her lack of response is also an ongoing worry.

Currently, Dana's doctors are hopeful that she is going to recover, but the road to recovery will be long and tedious. We are hoping to alleviate just a small portion of their burden by helping out financially. Please consider donating to our sister and her family.
