Help the Bradshaw Family Rebuild After Devastating Flood

Dear Friends and Community,

We are reaching out on behalf of our grandparents, in a time of great need. As some may know, Carol and Dennis Bradshaw’s forever family home was tragically destroyed by the recent unexpected flooding that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut on August 18th.

The quaint, little, red house that sat by the river was quickly consumed by a rushing current that destroyed everything in its path. Their home was flooded with over 3 feet of water, causing furnishings to be damaged or washed away. What belongings that were salvageable were left wet, and covered in mud. A very large oak tree fell onto the house, adding another element of destruction to the already devastating situation. Their pavilion that housed many nights filled with laughter and story telling was overtaken by water. The garage, where Pop (Dennis) spent countless hours working on projects for his children and grandchildren, was also quickly destroyed when the floor washed away.

This house was more than just a structure; it was where generations of families got to grow, share countless memories, and felt the warmth and safety of a loving home. This house was where Dennis and Carol were married, the place their children & grandchildren grew up—and a space anyone and everyone felt completely at peace in and enjoyed deeply.

While they are physically safe, their home and many of their belongings are a total loss.

We are humbly asking for support from our community to help them rebuild. Carol and Dennis have done so much for their community throughout their lives; Carol driving a school bus for Newtown Public Schools, and providing smiles and safe transportation for young students. Dennis serving for the Monroe Police Department, as well as much of CT, as a K-9 handler. Dennis was not only a first responder at Sandy Hook Elementary, but sat outside the school decorating his cruiser to bring joy and restore smiles to the children's faces.

They are some of the kindest, and most selfless individuals anybody would have the pleasure of knowing, and their generosity is recognized by many. The funds raised will go directly to Carol and Dennis to help alleviate the upcoming financial burden that they will face. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and bring them one step closer to recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity during this unexpected and difficult time. Your support for our grandparents means the world to us.

With gratitude,
The grandchildren of Carol and Dennis Bradshaw
