Help the Childress Family Recover Moving Costs
Hi, my name is Christy, and I have created this Go Fund Me for my daughter Hannah, our son-in-law Dylan and their young family, in order to help recover the costs of moving across the country. About 2 months ago they made the decision to separate from the Navy and move to Dylan's home state of Missouri. The Navy was going to move them one last time, but unfortunately this did not happen, and they had to hire a moving company on their own, with the hopes that they would be reimbursed. So they chose a company that by all appearances seemed quite perfect for their needs. Sadly, this has turned out NOT to be the case. When their delivery day came and went, they began to wonder where their belongings were. They reached out to the company only to find out that their belongings were still in a warehouse in WA, and they were told they hadn't paid for direct delivery. This began a back and forth (mostly them trying to get ahold of the company, and the company not responding) for a couple weeks. When finally they heard from someone, they were told the delivery was going to be made over Memorial Day weekend, during which Hannah and family were out of town for. The delivery driver made demands of more money owed for a variety of things that were not originally part of their contract. They learned a few days later that their stuff was placed in a storage facility "somewhere" in the vicinity within 100 miles. After repeated attempts to contact the management of said company, they were finally contacted by a driver saying that they would need another large sum of money by a certain date or their belongings would be auctioned off. They were also told that they would not receive any compensation for the late delivery of their things, and they would not be given the necessary paperwork in order to be reimbursed by the Navy. The money was sent, and the waiting begun for the date of delivery, which they were told would be sometime near the end of June, because they are "extremely busy". We are praying this delivery will actually happen!
There are many details I am leaving out, but what I would like to convey is that this is a young Navy veteran family that has been completely taken advantage of by a company that they trusted with their household belongings. The employees have been rude, even yelling at them both, entirely unprofessional and unethical. They trusted this company to deliver their belongings safely to their new home. They were completely scammed, and it shouldn't have happened. They are taking steps to do what they can to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else. While they are frustrated with the entire thing, they have also learned lessons through it all. I have been greatly impressed by, and proud of, their positive attitude and their ability to see God's hands in everything.
Hannah and Dylan have had their savings totally wiped out by this move. He has started a new job, but has yet to receive his final paycheck from the Navy, so they have had zero income for almost a month and a half. While the financial side of this move has been beyond stressful for them, they have seen God work in some amazing ways as well. They know He is in control and will work everything out.
Being able to provide them with even a little bit of cash would bless them so very much. It would mean Hannah doesn't need to try to find a job that would work around Dylan's schedule, and keep their son out of daycare. It would mean having the peace of mind that comes with knowing there is a cushion of money in savings for emergencies. And it would mean the burden of finances would be lifted so they could focus on building the next chapter of life in their new home.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this page. If you are able to help financially, and feel led to do so, we would be so so grateful. If not, we would greatly appreciate your prayers as they navigate these life decisions and circumstances.
