Help the Chromczaks climb out of their pit

Holy cats, people! You all certainly know how to step up and love on these fine friends! Thank you all so much for your overwhelming generosity! As described in the story below, you'll see I set the original goal ($5K) for far under what they actually need ($11K), but fortunately you've taken note of that and have continued to contribute. In light of that, I thought... why not set the goal for the actual needed amount? What's the worst that could come of doing that? So... here goes. The new goal is $11K. The account is now at $6K, so we're already more than 1/2 way there.

I gotta be honest, though. I'm really not that surprised at how wildly successful this has been, thus far. Prayer is a real thing, not just mumbling gibberish to a pretend god out there, but yeah.... that's just my (correct) opinion-lol!

Hi, this is Rachel Mitchell and I've created this "Go Fund Me" for some dear friends who are having an exceptionally rough streak of bad luck and need immediate financial help. Pete and Paddy are hard working, kind, and generous, and it took quite a while to convince them I should set this up for them. They are definitely more comfortable helping others than they are receiving help.

Pete's been on short-term disability since mid-December, which will reduce to 60% on 1/15/2022, and Paddy has not been able to work as much at her SHIPT (grocery delivery) job, due to her needing to care for Pete at home and her minivan being in the shop. It's back now, but will need more work done soon. Meanwhile, medical, auto mechanic, and household bills are lambasting their savings. All of this is straining them emotionally and financially.

Their story: First Pete's medical journey--
On 12/13/2021 Pete had prostate cancer surgery. Complications set in and he quickly returned to the ER on 12/18-22. There, they found a urine leak to the belly. Radiology inserted a drain tube, but it filled faster than expected, which resulted in more tests and Pete needing a stent to redirect fluid to the catheter. Once home again, he experienced more complications and extreme pain and returned via ambulance @ 2:00a.m. on Christmas morning. There he had an ultrasound to confirm there were no blood clots, (there were not. Whew)! CT scan and MRI revealed fluid in his left hip joint and ortho did surgery to remove fluid. Another drain tube was added to help clear any additional fluid from hip after surgery. Results came back unknown if fluid from hip was septic. Doctors gave Pete two heavy antibiotics just in case. Pete lost nearly all his strength in his left leg from this surgery, needing physical therapy to regain some strength before coming home on 1/3. Now he's home trying his best to heal with a picc line of antibiotics for 6 weeks! Their out of pocket & deductible =approximately $4K

Now onto car stuff-
-
Paddy drove to hospital 12/25 @ 2:30 a.m. to meet Pete (driving his manual VW Jetta as Paddy's minivan was leaking oil - now temporarily fixed.), leaving both girls at home on Christmas Day. After a long day at the hospital, and finally comfortable to leave, Paddy started her journey home to Burnsville from United in St. Paul at 5:30 p.m. Pete's car stalled on 35E. Called for a tow which arrived around 7pm. Pete's Jetta needs a new transmission and clutch, and Paddy's 2014 Dodge Caravan needs a belt for her front heat blowers fixed as well as a more serious solution to her oil leak. Cost estimates vary amongst mechanics, but it's probably around $4K

More Yikes- Just recently their garage cable snapped, and they learned they need a completely new door and hardware, as the original is 50 years old. Cost is estimated around $3K

They could really use your prayers, moral support, and financial support, as well as an affordable mechanic. Thank you so much for reading this, and if you'd be so kind as to share this with others, that would be amazing! Please also pray for the restoration of their family peace, as their two 18-year-old daughters are also quite stressed about all of these problems, which are negatively impacting their schoolwork and relationships with each other.
