Help the Clayburn family

Donation protected
On January 20th, 2022, Chris Clayburn woke up with a massive headache that couldn’t be treated by normal means. As his wife, Denise, began getting ready to leave for work, she knew she couldn’t. She felt something was terribly wrong with her husband of nearly 32 years and knew he needed to be taken to the hospital. Chris’s MRI scan revealed he had a large tumor on the brain and just three days later, his surgical team opened the left side of his skull to hopefully remove the entire tumor. Unfortunately, they were unable to remove the entire mass as they discovered the tumor had already spread to the right side of his brain. After removing most of what they could, they closed the site and sent the tumor to be biopsied. The biopsy revealed the mass to be cancerous and Chris has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, grade 4, IDH wildtype, meaning this is the most aggressive and fastest-growing type of brain cancer one could have. He will begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments as soon as possible. Chris has been given 3 to 20 months left before he will pass away.

Chris and Denise are no strangers to extreme difficulties and tragedies. At the age of 27, Chris lost his father to lymphoma and, just five years later, lost his mother to a fire, leaving him sole custody and caretaker of his disabled older sister Cheree. They have met each one of these circumstances with faith in God, just as they are meeting this diagnosis. They have felt the blessings and prayers of family, friends and loved ones as they continue to put one foot forward.

This diagnosis has come as a complete shock to the Clayburn family and they know the timing of its discovery is a blessing. Less than a month before, Chris and Denise were able to witness the marriage of their youngest son, Colton, in the Mesa AZ Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They feel so grateful they were both able to be there. Chris and Denise have two sons, Zachary and Colton, daughters-in-law Megan and Bailey, and their darling granddaughter Emma.

The financial burden of the chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery is the very least we are hoping to take off their shoulders. We are asking for donations to alleviate this stress.
