Help the community of Lake Charles

On August 27, 2020, Hurricane Laura slammed Southwest Louisiana, leaving communities, families and individuals devastated, their incomes, home or small business destroyed. Several members of The Party for Socialism and Liberation spent two days helping families in Lake Charles with badly needed water and food. This week we are returning to Lake Charles area and southern Louisiana to help organize in the communities, including the thousands with temporary shelter in New Orleans. FEMA and other government agencies are doing very little to attend to the peoples' crises. Those in Lake Charles have no water or electricity and cannot live in their damaged homes. It will take organized action of the community and supporters to get the immediate meaningful aid that the government is capable of providing.
This effort will take a struggle and mobilization. Last week we provided over $1,000 in emergency water and food supplies to Lake Charles families. Much more is needed. All money that we raise will go towards emergency water and food supplies, plus a smaller amount for protest organizing. What people need is major infrastructural aid. Let's make the government provide to all those in need!
