Help the Courtney family after Kristin's sudden passing

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with heavy hearts that we reach out to you in this time of unimaginable loss and need. On Monday, August 19th, the Courtney/Kunz family suffered the tragic loss of Kristin Kunz Courtney at her home in Arvada, Colorado.

Sometime after midnight, Kristin suffered a major medical event that sent her unresponsive to the ICU. Her husband Danny, son Jayden, and daughter Brooklynn were with Kristin while the paramedics were able to revive her temporarily. Kristin went to the ICU and a CAT scan indicated severe cerebral edema, caused by a lack of oxygen. Although the cause is unknown at this time, the medical event was so severe, that Kristin could not recover. Our hearts ache for the Courtney and Kunz families as we grapple with this sudden and heartbreaking loss.

The road ahead is uncertain and filled with many challenges for Kristin’s family, both emotional and financial. Jayden is 15 years old, in his sophomore year at Arvada West High School, and recently made the Mustang Hockey Varsity Team. Brooklynn will be 10 on September 9th and just started 5th grade at Fairmount Elementary and she is active in gymnastics, dance and softball.

We are reaching out to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. All funds raised will go directly to the family to help with the following:

1. Funeral/memorial expenses for Kristin and medical bills to cover the emergency and paramedics.

2. Hockey fees and travel expenses for Jayden to continue playing the sport he loves and the sport his mom was so excited to support.

3. Brooklynn’s busy activities schedule expenses, to resemble some sense of normalcy for her.

4. Support for the families to help her husband Danny along with their parents Patty and Kirby Kunz, and Pattie and Hap Courtney focus on healing without the added burden of financial stress.
