Help the Demakes Family (Middleton house of Pizza)
On Friday night during the busy dinner rush at the house of pizza, Nick collapsed while running between stations where a lobby full of customers stood waiting for their food. Peter (Nicks brother) quickly tried to get Nick up and when he couldn’t immediately started CPR compressions while Robyn called 911. Compressions didn’t work and the paramedics had to revive Nick with an AED. Nick is now on a ventilator and in cardiac arrest hypothermia protocol. Prior to this, Nick was very healthy and active and was not ill or symptomatic of heart problems.
The house of pizza closed down that night early as Nick was rushed to the hospital. There were pizzas and sandwiches being made, meats on the grill and waiting to go on the grill and food in the frialators and waiting to go in the frialators. The amount of meats and produce that unfortunately had to be thrown away on Saturday was heart wrenching. As everyone in the food industry can attest to, shops are severely understaffed and this is also true for MHOP. Peter and Nick both work 8am to 9pm six days a week with only one other employee and an occasional extra set of hands here and there. It is impossible for Peter to open the restaurant back up without Nick and will need to stay closed while they brainstorm a way forward to reopen the pizza while Nick recovers.
Most people in Middleton know how Peter and Nick go out of their way to take care of their customers and the Middleton community through food and/or monetary donations. They are truly contributors to the Middleton community. They have always felt fortunate to have their business in such a loving amazing community for decades. ❤️
Funds will be used to help cover
costs while the pizza is closed, towards hiring and hopefully retaining new employees, towards Nick’s medical bills from this event, and to help Nick until he is fully recovered and can return to work full time!
