David Mark DeMoulin (36) of Terre Haute, IN entered fully into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 11, 2024. He experienced some of the toughest circumstances in life and finished his life increasingly praising God.
Born on June 4, 1987, in Winfield, IL, David graduated from Wheaton North High School (2006), Indiana Wesleyan University (2010), and Palmer College of Chiropractic (2013). From an early age and increasingly so throughout his life, David’s faith was a beautiful picture of resilience and true dependence on God. He was filled with thanksgiving, joy, love, and a great encouragement to many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Whitney, and their three wonderful children: Laney (11), Jovee (8), and Belle (6); his parents, Mark and Karen DeMoulin; his sisters, Kim (James) Harden and Kristin (Mike) Edelstein; grandparents, Jahala DeMoulin and James Haggerty; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place February 17, 2024, at World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale Rd, Terre Haute, IN, from 1-2 PM (eastern time). A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2:00 PM. Everyone is invited for continued fellowship with a light reception following the service.

Cancer Story
At the beginning of May, David began getting mild stomach pains after eating. He thought he was developing an ulcer and tried to manage it through diet. At the end of May it became worse, and he had a telehealth appointment and was prescribed Prilosec. That seemed to help for 2 weeks until the middle of June things changed. He became very bloated, lost his appetite, and could only eat minimally with extreme pain.
At the beginning of July, he finally got in to see his primary doctor and had several tests run including blood, urine, ultrasound, and a CT scan. The main concern the tests revealed were multiple cancerous lesions on his liver. David had lost a significant amount of weight and had become jaundice. To provide relief and prevent the worst, an emergency surgery was performed. He had upper abdominal surgery to resection his common bile duct to a lower part of his small intestines along with adding another opening for his stomach to empty to the lower small intestines as well. During the operation they discovered he had a massive cancerous and ulcerative tumor in his duodenum (1st part of small intestines) that was blocking food consumption and also not allowing his liver to drain bile correctly. While this surgery was successful, they were not able to remove any cancer as it had become too progressed and the risk of death was too high. He can now eat but struggles putting weight back on.
David had to quit his job as a chiropractor in early July and had to close his two offices in Illinois and Indiana. He is currently enjoying the time he has left with his wife and 3 girls on their Indiana homestead.
Cancer Diagnosis
David has neuroendocrine cancer, stage 4. The primary cancer is believed to be a duodenal tumor of the small intestines with metastasis to the liver. A PET scan on Sept. 7th will reveal if the cancer has spread to other parts of his body as well. It is believed by the medical team David’s cancer is a chemotherapy induced cancer. David had a childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma, that was treated successfully with the intervention of God and chemotherapy. This type of chemotherapy can cause future cancer in the 20-40 year time frame, in which David now sits at about 34/35 years.
This current cancer he is battling is extremely rare, only about 500 known cases a year. This type of cancer is very aggressive and is said to be incurable.
David is starting immunotherapy and chemotherapy on Sept. 5th in the hopes that it can extend his time from what he has been given, 2-3 months to live with no intervention, to about a year or possibly 2 if the chemo and immunotherapy is successful. He is pursuing many natural strategies as well but mainly focused on his wife and children and serving his church community with his time left.
We thank you so much for giving, sharing, and most of all praying for Dave and his family as they go through this incredibly difficult time. Updates will be posted here on this page periodically.
