Help the Dogwood Festival Support Teen Artists
Tax deductible
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the Atlanta High School Art Exhibition through The Atlanta Dogwood Festival and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that helps support our emerging artists.
Young artists need your help! During Covid, with students away from school, away from their friends and basic social interaction, many feel desperate and alone. Unfortunately, in today's environment of limited funding and greater financial strain, schools are offering fewer opportunities for students to express their feelings through art. In 2020 there was only one coordinated exhibit for these students to show their work, win prizes, and possibly receive a scholarship.
Below, some participants in 2020 show and Art Throwdown competitors 2019.
The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition has served creative students in over 80 schools (public and private) in the Atlanta metro area since the 1980s. Due to the pandemic, and the cancellation of the 2020 Atlanta Dogwood Festival the show almost didn’t happen. Fortunately, an alternative venue to the festival grounds was found at Ponce City Market, and the Atlanta Dogwood Festival and various sponsors continued to fund it. The students’ creative work was not forgotten.
The video below shows highlights from our 2020 show at Ponce City Market.
Although many events were canceled in 2020, including graduation ceremonies, spring trips, etc. The Atlanta Dogwood Festival is committed to these students and are dedicated to making sure that The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition continues in 2021, 2022, and on!
Now, due to the uncertainty of the festival in 2021, The Atlanta Dogwood Festival is raising money to ensure that, regardless of the festival's situation, this valuable program continues.
Why is it important that The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition continues?
· In a normal school year, students have at least nine or more opportunities to show their work. This year, the only opportunity has been Scholastic Art Awards and this program. Students look forward to and work hard to create work for this high-level competition.
· The Atlanta High School Art Exhibition affords the students an opportunity to have their work seen and appreciated by the large Atlanta community.
· The AHSAE gives art students a goal to work toward.
· The AHSAE gives these students the knowledge that their work still matters.
· The AHSAE lets these students and their teachers know that we support the challenges students are facing every day and we enthusiastically embrace their creative efforts.
Why should you consider donating to the AHSAE?
· Donations are tax-deductible
· Your donation helps to continue the tradition of the AHSAE, the only independent art exhibit that supports student artists regardless of which school they attend.
· Your donation encourages our students and demonstrates that the community cares about their work.
· Funding the AHSAE provides our students with a goal to help support their creativity and develop numerous talents that art supports.
· By helping us, you will be offering support to students in over 80 schools from 16 counties who enter over 800 works yearly.
· Your donations will be used for the direct costs of this high school program and will include judge’s fees, ribbons, awards packages, prizes, social media, website, video projection, Peoples’ Choice Award, Art Throwdown, etc.
· Check out this group of award-winning works from years past.
Please consider making a donation of any amount to support the continuance of this excellent program.
