Help The Dolphin Research Institute save the Plover!

Seeing the beautiful Motor Vessel PLOVER sunken at its Mornington Pier mooring is heartbreaking.

The team at The Dolphin Research Institute invites our wonderful community to help salvage the grand lady, The Plover, in Mornington.

She was swamped by massive waves crashing over the pier during extreme storms in the early hours of September 2.

It's more than dolphins, fishing, and people. The PLOVER is a significant piece of maritime history. General Motors Holden built it at Fishermen's Bend in 1942 for the Royal Australian Army during the Second World War (six years before their first motor car.) She worked as a service vessel to larger ships during the war.

Bay Fish N Trips is a valued contributor of dolphin sightings to the Dolphin Research Institute's citizen science program, and we want to help Mark and his team get back on the water.
