Garth Dunphy’s Funeral Help and Family Support

It saddens me to give this update, but unfortunately Garth has passed today, December 20th 2024. He fought like hell over the last 2 weeks, but in the end his lungs and body couldn’t fight anymore. All funds raised will be going towards his funeral costs first and remainder to accumulated bills and lost wages.

Hello everyone,

My name is Amber Mueller and I am the unofficial adopted daughter of the Dunphy family. I’ve made a GoFundMe to help the Dunphy family with the emergency financial strain cancer has caused. Today a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, Garth Dunphy, retired Navy Chief of 22 years is continuing to fight for the remainder of his life at University of Penn Hospital in Philadelphia against a rare and aggressive cancer, Duodenal Adenocarcinoma, that is taking him from us.

I come with a heartfelt message to ask for support and prayers for Garth and his family. He has fought hard for the last year and a half against this disease. As the days have been long with highs and lows, the reoccurrence was sudden and is leaving his cherished wife of 40 years Nita, and two daughters Jessica and Meghan under financial distress. The remainder of his funeral expenses and the amount of traveling to and from hospitals, missed work, and stacking bills is causing tremendous stress on the family.

Garth has been a rock to his beautiful family, 5 amazing grandchildren, and friends. Quick witted, strong, smart, funny, wise, and a stand up man. Eagles and Phillies fan, hunter, worldly advice giver, and wise cracking joke provider.

I was lucky enough to be taken in by Garth and Nita many years ago as they had done for many others before me. Their daughters Meghan and Jessica have the hearts of their parents and had found the ones who needed the love that Garth and Nita could provide and were selfless to give. They opened their home to countless other individuals showing nothing but love, compassion, wise jokes, and life long friendship.

The goal of this fundraiser will be to raise $15,000 to help pay for Garth‘s remaining funeral expenses $7,500 and any remaining funds to help the family with the strain of bills, traveling, and lost work.
