Help The Haiti Earthquake Victims of St Louis du Sud.
It's been more than 72 hours since the 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti’s Southern coast, yet, relief efforts and government support are still not reaching smaller and more remote communities.
The Aquin arrondissement (Aquin, Cavaillon, Saint-Louis du Sud) is home to over 200,000 people. Although major towns are conveniently reachable from National Road #2, help is harder to come to the thousands living in the surrounding communities, hard to reach, remote locations perched on mountain tops or nestled by the bay.
The Earthquake destroyed the water pipes, there is NO running water. Locals are sleeping outside--they have lost most if not all of their possessions including homes and valuable farm animals. Tropical storm Grace brought even more rain and flooding and misery to these communities.
Community leaders and loved ones are reporting to us regarding the thousands of unattended injuries sustained during the earthquake. We have seen broken legs, arms and other undiagnosed injuries. The need for medical care is critical in remote areas where the injured cannot reach medical centers located in the cities.
SOLUTION:
We have partnered with various grassroots organizations on the ground in St Louis du Sud to helpe bring urgent medical aid to the underserved people in the area.
We have organized a 15 person crew of doctors and health professionals from Haiti and the Haitian diaspora to set up a mobile clinic to provide emergency health care to those severely injured by the earthquake.
WE NEED YOU:
- Funds to purchase a truck which will deliver water to a minimum of 10,000 people. To assist without damaging the long term ecology of the area, we are respectfully avoiding water in small plastic bags and plastic bottles.
- Funds to purchase medical kits
- Funds to purchase emergency shelter essentials such as tarps, prelats etc.
