Help the Families of Life Academy in Oakland, CA
Donation protected
COVID-19 has completely shifted our world -- and has highlighted the deep inequities in our society.
In this moment, the families of Life Academy of Health & Bioscience -- a small public school in Oakland, CA serving 450 students in grades 6-12 -- are facing immense challenges.
As a small school, community is at the heart of our mission. We see ourselves as a family, which we know is central to our academic successes -- we have one of the highest graduation rates in Oakland Unified School District (97% in 2019), and consistently graduate young people who are ready for college and beyond (over 83% of our students were UC/CSU eligible last year).
But the COVID-19 pandemic has presented our community with a new challenge: ensuring that folks have stable housing, food, supplies, and income.
Many of our families, due to immigration status, will not receive the government assistance that others will -- including unemployment benefits or the stimulus check.
By donating to our fund, you will be supporting families in Oakland directly with funds for food, rent, and basic necessities to weather this pandemic.
If you have other means of supporting our community, be it materials, work opportunities, or otherwise, please reach out to us.
