With the heaviest hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Octaviano “Tavia” Guerro Lopez — a beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend.

Tavia was the kind of person who could light up any room. His smile was constant, his laugh contagious, and his joy unwavering — even in the final days of his life. His family lovingly called him “Sunshine,” because that’s exactly what he brought into every space he entered.

Just days after celebrating his 50th birthday with his wife Anita and son Merced, Tavia received a sudden and devastating cancer diagnosis. Before the family could even begin to process the news, his health rapidly declined. Within days, he was hospitalized, and despite his strength, hope, and will to live, he tragically passed due to multiple organ failure.

Tavia was full of life, laughter, and love. He adored his family and took pride in the life he and Anita built together over the last 20 years. He loved being a dad. He was a proud meat butcher, was a proud provider, and always showed up with a joke and a grin — even while facing his hardest battles.

His passing was incredibly fast and unexpected, and it has left his family emotionally and financially unprepared. Anita and Merced are heartbroken and trying to navigate life without him while also facing the overwhelming costs of funeral and memorial arrangements.

We are asking for your help to give Tavia the service he deserves — one filled with love, light, and the same warmth he gave so freely to others. All funds will go directly to his wife Anita to help cover the funeral expenses she and their son are carrying.
