Help our #CourageousClaire and her fight with DIPG

Donation protected
This is Claire, and she is 4 years old. Her parents are Rey and April Hernandez. She has 2 older brothers Logan (age 12), and Gavin (age 9). I can’t even find the words to explain how wonderful and special this little 4-yr old is.  She has brought our family so much joy and happiness. Her light shines so brightly that you are always warm when you are in her presence.

Claire was born prematurely at 27 weeks on May 26, 2015 weighing only 3 lbs 1oz. She lived in the NICU for the first 75 days of her life, and fought hard every day to get strong. Even as a tiny baby she was amazing and determined.

While in NICU she was on respiratory support, and had to receive a blood transfusion.  Upon discharge Claire suffered with developmental delay, and  after further testing with neurologists and therapies Claire was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which is damage to the brain that can be caused by premature birth.

With lots of love and dedication from her parents, grandparents, and the help of all her amazing Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapists she was thriving and there was no stopping her.

She attended a Pre-school special education (PPCD) class at Boone Elementary. She loves learning, and helping in her class with all her new friends, and is deeply loved by all who know her!

Claire has recently been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) which is a very rare and inoperable brain cancer. Doctors have given her a prognosis of 9-15 months. She will begin extensive radiation treatments in the weeks ahead to try to make her as comfortable as possible. Our family has been shaken to the core with this news. And while we are still in shock and heartbroken by this we as a family want to provide Claire’s family with enough financial assistance so that they can continue to spend time with Claire and not worry about working, medical expenses, a way to still provide for their boys and plan for what the future brings.

Please donate if you can and even if you can’t please keep her in your daily prayers, at this point Claire’s family’s only hope is for a miracle!  Please share and thank you for reading about our special sweet little Claire.
