Help The Feliciano Family Fight Cancer

Donation protected

CANCER, when any family hears that word,
it’s devastating and absolutely terrifying.
Well, imagine finding out in the same month, that TWO of your immediate family members have cancer.

In February of 2020, that’s exactly what
happened to the Feliciano Family.  My sweet
little niece Keaira, aka Kiki was diagnosed
with Synovial Sarcoma.  Then a week or so
later, my sister Ashly was diagnosed with
Cervical Cancer, specifically
Adenocarcinoma.

Ash and JP have already had to miss a lot of
work, with many more missed days to come
and now the medical bills are rolling in.
They’re already dealing with so much and
they shouldn’t have worry about how they’re going to pay for all of this too.

Kiki’s already had 3 surgeries, about 50
X-rays, an MRI, CT Scan and she’ll have to
have PET scans every 3 months, for the rest
of her life.  There’s also a possibility of
Chemo, Radiation and they may have to
travel to Texas, to meet with a doctor who
specializes in this particular cancer.

Ashly’s also had to go through numerous
procedures, to get her diagnosis and she’ll be having a hysterectomy in March.

So on their behalf, I’m reaching out to all of
you.  They need our help!!  I can’t imagine
what they’re going through and it’s gonna be a long road ahead.  The last thing they need
to worry about is medical bills.  So if your
situation will allow, please consider making a donation.  If you can’t, that’s ok too, I totally
understand.  However please share their
story.  It’s amazing what can happen when
people come together. ❤️

Here’s their story:

Kiki’s only 13 yrs old, she’s in her first year of junior high and right now her passion in life is softball . She loves her “Hot Shots” family and when she not training with them, she
likes to hangout with her family and friends
from school.

In November of 2019, seemingly out of the
blue, she started having pain in her chest &
lungs and it hurt to breath.  So Ashly and JP
took her to the ER and they discovered she
had a Pneumothorax, aka a collapsed lung.

The doctors couldn’t seem to figure out why and after weeks of trying to allow it to heal itself and what felt like hundreds of X-rays and
scans.  They found a “bleb” on her lung, which is what caused the Pneumothorax.  So she
had to have surgery to remove that and
repair the Pneumothorax.

Well, they sent that “bleb” to pathology and
they discovered it wasn’t a bleb at all. It was
actually a tumor and my sweet little Kiki was
diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma.

This type of cancer is VERY rare.  Like 1 per
every million people rare and it’s very
aggressive.  It’s also a type of cancer that
she’ll have to fight for the rest of her life
because with this particular sarcoma, it’s not a matter of IF it will come back, it’s a matter
of when.

Once they determined it was cancer, Kiki had a PET scan to determine if it had spread and we were all ecstatic to hear that the cancer
did not spread.
However, the scan did determine that they
didn’t get it all during the first surgery
(because they didn’t know it was a tumor)
and there  was some concern that when the
tumor ruptured (which is what actually
caused the Pneumothorax), it could have
caused additional cancer cells to spread to
the lining of her lungs.

So Ash, JP and I met with Oncology on
Thursday, February 6th and we’re informed
that Kiki would have to have another surgery, so they could remove the rest of the tumor
and also preform a “Lobectomy”, which is
when they remove the affected lobe of the
lung.  We were also informed that she might have to undergo 9 months of Chemo, if it’s
determined that the cancer has spread.

Kiki had a 5 hour surgery on Monday,
February 10th and after spending a week at
the hospital, she finally got to come home this past Sunday and she’s doing remarkably well!

During surgery they also preformed a “lung
wash” to determine if any cancer cells are
currently present and we’re happy to report
that right now, Kiki is cancer free!!

However, as I said earlier, we know this
cancer will come back, we just don’t know
when.  It’s a very rare sarcoma and doctors
don’t know a lot about it, so they seem to be
pushing Chemotherapy as a “precaution”.

Ash & JP aren’t ok with doing Chemo as a
“precaution”, especially because the type of
Chemo she needs can cause heart problems
and infertility.  So they’re currently seeking a second opinion, which may require them to
travel to Houston.

So for now, they’re choosing to do a PET Scan every 3 months, until they can determine
what the best treatment options are.

I wish I could say that’s where the story ends but unfortunately it’s not.

During all of that, we also found out that my
sister, my best friend in this entire world has Cervical Adenocarcinoma.  My Sister has
Cervical Cancer.

Ashly and I met with her Oncologist on
February 7th and we were absolutely
ecstatic to learn that all of her cancer was
actually removed, during one of the
procedures that she had to have, to get to
this diagnosis.  So you can imagine the
thousand pound weight that was lifted off
our shoulders on that day!

She’ll have to have a partial hysterectomy
because the cancer will absolutely come back if she doesn’t but we can handle that.

She’s going to wait a few weeks, so that Kiki
has time to recover and hopefully they can
get some kind of treatment plan set up for
her.  Then Ash will go in for her surgery in
March.  I’ll continue to update their story as it
unfolds but for now, that’s all the information I have.

Thank you so much for taking the time to
read this.  Please donate if you can and if you can’t, please just keep them in your prayers
and share their story, if you feel comfortable
doing that.

I also want to take just a minute to thank
each and every one of you for your support, while Kiki was in the hospital and since she’s come home.  They’ve received so many calls, messages, visitors, gifts, flowers and meals.
It’s been amazing to watch everyone rally
around this family and they are truly grateful for everything you’ve done. ❤️

Thank you,

Amber (Ashly’s Sister)
