Help the Flodin Family Restart After Devastating House Fire

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Neighbors,

On August 18 at 4:15 AM, a devastating fire broke out in the home we rent in Carmel Valley. The fire, which may have started from an electrical issue in the garage or our Tesla, quickly spread and caused significant damage to our home, car and all belongings. Thankfully, everyone, including our beloved lab, Bear and rabbit, Mochi, escaped safely. However, we lost almost everything due to fire, water and smoke damage.

We have been in Carmel Valley for over 12 years and we are proud to be part of the community. Our son Maximus is a sophomore at Torrey Pines High School and plays catcher in baseball and is on the football team. Our daughters Zylia and Aria are in 7th and 8th at Pacific Trails Middle School. Zylia plays lacrosse and field hockey and Aria plays softball. The kids lost all their sporting equipment in the fire. We are part of the St. Therese Parish and have deeply appreciate the outreach from many folks in our Carmel Valley community.

We have rental insurance, but that will likely only cover 1/4 of what we lost and doesn’t apply to certain things. We are working through the process with insurance, but it is taking a long time. Our Tesla was destroyed (literally melted), so that is being totaled and we are down to one car with the rental coverage ending shortly.

We would deeply appreciate and be grateful for any donations. The funds raised will go towards:

• Temporary housing and living expenses

• Relocation and cleanup costs

• Replacing essential belongings and personal items

• Kid’s sporting equipment

• Covering any additional unforeseen expenses
