Help the Flores family - Tony has passed away

Tony, at the age of 37, passed away last night after a lengthy battle with cancer (3 days before one of his daughter’s birthday). His memorial service is next week.

It was about midway through Sonia’s pregnancy with their youngest that they found out about Tony’s illness. You can imagine the obstacles this family faces as Sonia not only lost the love of her life, but six young children lost their daddy.

Tony cannot be replaced, and I can’t imagine the void they feel.

The Flores family isn’t just our friends. They live less than a half a mile away from us, and we have worshiped together at the same church for years.

There is a community of people that have walked with them and is committed to continuing to do so indefinitely. Sonia is as strong and resilient as anyone I’ve known, and she relies on God above everything or anyone else. I am confident they will find joy in the mourning.

Sonia doesn’t want us to launch a campaign like this, but I felt impressed to do it anyway. As we know, money isn’t everything. At the same time, when faced with tragedy, funeral expenses, and all the challenges that come as we navigate loss, we know well that financial blessings can help mitigate some of the unexpected stresses as well as the immediate needs.

What would Sonia feel if we were able to gift her with $50,000? How about $100,000? How incredible would it be if we joined together and miraculously raised $250,000?! Any amount given would provide immeasurable relief for this family.
