Help the Fuentes Family Fight Lymphoma
If you’re reading this story, then a sincere thank you is already in order. <3
I’m creating this gofundme to help one of my
best friends during the most difficult time of
her life. The ways that I can help her and her family as she battles Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 35 are limited since we live across the country from each other. However, our friendship and sisterhood began when we were young and will always keep us connected forever.
It’s a travesty that there is even a story to share. For 2 1/2 long years, Becky knew something was wrong with her. She advocated for her health and visited 15 different doctors but they all said the same thing: you are fine. Everything is fine. You will be fine.
She tried countless drugs, therapies, diets. There was nothing she would not try to improve her health and feel as good as she could. After all, she had two young children to take care of, a career that is necessary to support her family, and a husband she wants to grow old with.
Finally, her 16th doctor made all her efforts worth the time and energy. He was relentless in supporting the need to figure out what was wrong. On January 6 she had her first CT scan, and two days later, on January 8, he called to tell her he was almost certain she had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In less than a month, she had two surgeries and began her chemotherapy. Her tenacity and his dedication saved her life. For 2 1/2 long years her cancer progressed to stage three.
But we all know the responsibilities of daily family life do not pause just because cancer steps into the picture. Her countless appointments, medical costs, and loss of work time add up. Chemotherapy obliterates energy and causes sickness for days after the treatment is done but her 9-year-old daughter and her 11-year-old son still need her more than ever. Her husband does everything in his power to do everything possible so that her health is the priority.
This battle has just begun but the financial strain is already ever present. Their goal is to keep life as normal as possible for their kids who are young and very active. But the fact remains bills must be paid and those bills keep mounting through this fight against cancer.
All monies donated will help replenish the income lost from her limited ability to work, help maintain her children’s activities continued normalcy, and help pay rising medical bills.
