Vince Gallardo was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the appendix called goblet cell adenocarcinoma. It all started 7/25/20 when Vince wasn’t feeling well for several days and ended up in the ER at Scott County Hospital. He was diagnosed with appendicitis with a blood clot in the appendicular artery. He was shipped to Denver to have a laparoscopic appendectomy by a vascular surgeon. He had the surgery 7/26/20 and released home 7/27/20. He did well for a couple days then started running fevers. He was admitted to Scott County Hospital on 7/31/20 due to showing signs of infection and was started on IV antibiotics. He was discharged home 5 days later and sent home on oral antibiotics for 14 days. The pathology came back from his appendix on 8/9/20. He was diagnosed with goblet cell adenocarcinoma of the appendix. With this diagnosis he would need a bowel resection and possible chemotherapy. 8/31/20 he had a colonoscopy and on 9/1/20 he had a bowel resection both at Scott County Hospital. After a week in the hospital he was sent home on 9/8/20. On 9/15/20 he was notified there was lymph node involvement with the cancer and would be started on chemotherapy. A port was placed for chemo on 9/28/20. Vince started chemotherapy on 10/5/20 and will receive chemo for the next 6 months. This has been a trying time for Vince, his wife Jessica, and children Victoria and Jace. Any help you can send their way would be greatly appreciated.
