Help the Gamber's Relocate and Recoup

My name is Mara and I'm Rea's sister. I'm creating this, in hopes of lessening the burden, helping them move forward, and in time get back to normal. One week ago today, the home connected to Rea, Dave, Maddie, Gavin along with their 2 fur babies caught fire. The fire was on the 3rd floor. Dave has been a firefighters for 37 years for Goodwill Fire Company, has fought thousands of fires, but I don't know how anything could prepare him for something like this. His worry for his neighbors as well as Rea his wife who is slow moving due to her recent foot surgery and their children were just getting ready for bed. Thankfully Dave and his fellow firefighters moved quickly and all in both homes got out safely. This whole process however has been an emotional Rollercoaster to say the least. In the beginning, they thought they were gratefully spared and their damage wasn't as extensive. After the restoration and insurance companies did their assessment, they need things redone from 3rd floor to 1st and then some. Maddie lost pretty much everything because her bedroom is on the 3rd floor, beds/bedding for the whole family, all rugs, some of their electronics, other furniture and so many keepsakes sadly will be discarded. They are now packing and preparing to move to a rental, where is unknown at the moment. They will be displaced 6-12 months, if not more. The insurance covers pretty much all or most, but doesn't cover rental deposits required to move in by most landlords. They will be roughly looking at a $5,000 deposit with today's market. They will need to purchase bedding for their temporary home along with other household items and pay utilities on 2 properties as well. Rea recently had foot surgery on January 17th, is out of work for at least 16wks w/o pay, & now wearing a boot. We appreciated all the kind words, prayer, text, and support already given. To the First Respnders, you guys Rock and Thank You !!! Dave and Rea give so much to their community each and everyday. Dave has selflessly done so for 37yrs helping to save the lives of others. Rea volunteers countless hours at Bridgeport Elementary, their PTC/Fundraisers, and is a CoLeader for Maddie's Girl Scouts Troop.
