Help the Garfias Family

On Wednesday night (3/16) our apartment building caught on fire. After inspectors and the insurance company came to assess the damages, we were told the building was deemed inhabitable due to the built-up of the toxins of the smoke and damages by the water. Repairs to our roof have to be made and there is no timeframe as to when it’ll be done.

The aftermath of the fire affected our apartment as our light, gas, and water were shut down and all our belongings are covered in soot (furniture, mattresses, clothes, kitchen utilities). Unfortunately, all our belongings will have to be replaced.

We are thankful to be able to stay with family, but our living conditions are limited as we do not have proper sleeping beds. At the time we are sleeping in a makeshift bed of blankets in the living room and have some of our belongings in bags and boxes.

We know we won’t be able to stay here for long which is why we hope to be able to raise money to find a new home and workspace for my business. With your donations, we hope to replace our belongings to begin a new home and life. We truly appreciate all your love and support!

El miércoles por la noche (3/16) nuestro edificio de apartamentos se incendió. Después de que los inspectores y la compañía de seguros vinieran a evaluar los daños, nos dijeron que el edificio se consideraba inhabitable debido a la acumulación de toxinas del humo y los daños causados ​​por el agua. Se deben hacer reparaciones en nuestro techo y no hay un plazo para hacerlo.

Las secuelas del incendio afectaron nuestro apartamento ya que se cortó la luz, el gas y el agua y todas nuestras pertenencias están cubiertas de hollín (muebles, colchones, ropa, utensilios de cocina). Desafortunadamente, todas nuestras pertenencias tendrán que ser reemplazadas.

Estamos agradecidos de poder quedarnos con familia, pero nuestras condiciones de vida son limitadas ya que no tenemos camas adecuadas para dormir. En ese momento estamos durmiendo en una cama improvisada de cobijas en la sala y tenemos algunas de nuestras pertenencias en bolsas y cajas.

Sabemos que no podremos quedarnos aquí por mucho tiempo, por eso esperamos poder recaudar dinero para encontrar un nuevo hogar y espacio de trabajo para mi negocio. Con sus donaciones, esperamos reemplazar nuestras pertenencias para comenzar un nuevo hogar y una nueva vida. ¡Realmente apreciamos todo su amor y apoyo!
