Help the Garibay Family with medical expenses

Hello! This is Eric and Kyle and we are fundraising to help the Garibay family in this hard time. As many of you know Diego is currently in the ICU, on a ventilator, and sedated. His nervous system was infected and started to shut down on him on Monday. He is getting daily treatment of immune boosters and he’s had multiple X-rays and MRIs of his spine and brain. Before he went to the hospital he was unable to stand on his own or speak. We’re hoping this is the worst and he will begin to heal. Doctors say this may be a long recovery, but he will recover. Alex and Diego have been fortunate to have their families close to help with the kids so his parents and Alex can be by his side.

The family finally has a name for his diagnosis, Guillain-Barré syndrome. The Neurologist is hopeful to get him off the ventilator sometime this week. Average time to be on a vent for this is 21 days, really hoping that’s not the case. The average recovery time for this is 6 months back to normalcy. His blood pressure and heart rate was high today so they are giving him some more medication to try and lower it. He ran a fever Friday and Saturday but now is back to a good temperature. He will open his eyes and shake his head yes or no but can only stay awake for a minute before going back out. You can tell he wants to wake up and move and just can’t yet.

Alex has been talking to him and letting him know that everyone is thinking of him. She has been trying to balance being by his side, seeing their kids, and working. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster the last 4 days and she only sees weeks more of that to come. She knows the kids miss him and that he misses them so much more.
