Hello,
If you are reading this, you probably already know that Sean and Renee Gaudet are two of the greatest humans currently residing on this giant rock orbiting the sun. Unfortunately, the past few years have been unfairly targeting this wonder couple, and they could use a break.
Sean has a rare, untreatable autoimmune response called PVR (proliferative vitreoretinopathy). Three years ago he went through his first retinal detachment. Since then, he's had numerous surgeries and undergone long periods of recovery that keep him from teaching (his favorite thing to do) and has taken a toll on his mental health. Renee has been a devoted caregiver through it all but is likewise being afflicted by this string of bad luck. His most recent detachment has left him with very limited vision in his one remaining good eye. It was finally enough to make him unable to finish this school year.
But a new hope has emerged. Sean will be taking part in a clinical trial to hopefully treat and even improve his vision. This trial, however, is in Alabama and will require him to have to receive weekly treatments for the next 4 months.
Hope is priceless...travel, unfortunately, has a cost.
These two have done so much to improve the lives of others. They have been dedicated teachers, supportive coworkers, dependable friends, adoring parents, and inspirational role models to thousands of us. Let's help them get through this rough patch and give them back some of the hope they've bestowed upon us over the years.
