Help the Giraldos Find a New Home

Donation protected
Many of us know Natalie and Alejandro, who are very active in our community and are great friends to everyone they meet.

What you might not know is that on the morning of November 21st, just a few days before Thanksgiving, they were the victims of a drive-by shooting at their home.

KSL Report: Two Suspects Arrested After Drive By Shooting In South Jordan

While the suspects have been arrested, what remains is a bigger problem than anyone might have anticipated. Nat and Alex's tween son -- who the bullet was perilously close to hitting while he slept -- is experiencing PTSD and is afraid to be in the house where he was nearly killed. Their daughter feels the same way. And for the entire family, home just doesn't feel safe any more.

During a time when home feels like the only safe place in the world, the Giraldo family no longer feels safe in their home.

They need a fresh start in a different place where there are no frightening memories, and where their kids can feel at peace without being reminded of something so scary and terrible.

In the last few months their little family has experienced COVID exposure, a car accident, and now a drive-by shooting at their home. Their savings has been drained dealing with each problem in turn, and while I know they're not the kind of people to ask for help, I'm confident they would welcome it right now.

Our goal is to move them into a new home as quickly as possible so that they can start rebuilding their lives and the Giraldo kids can start to feel safe again.

The estimated cost to do so is $5,000. Tenant deposits for a family of four almost always include a first and last month's rent, plus an extra few hundred dollars for the various 'move-in' costs that seem to get tacked on, so $5,000 seems like a good amount to cover their move-in/moving fees.

To be clear, we're not talking about covering rent here. We're talking about a family suddenly finding themselves in need of moving, and simply not having the savings due to a string of bad luck. Once they're moved, the Giraldos can take care of themselves, our goal as friends is to just help them get past the hurtle and get out of their current drive-by house.

Money is tight right now for all of us, but anything you can contribute to help is appreciated. Let's help their kids feel safe again this Christmas.
