Help the Gnecco family heal from a violent attack

Donation protected
This past Monday, our beloved sister, Marissa Gnecco, was almost murdered in our grandmothers home with her three children present. The perpetrator hit and pushed our grandmother out of the way to then back our sister into a corner where she couldn’t leave. Thankfully, the children were rushed to safety and remain unharmed, but not our sister. He proceeded to harm her with a large kitchen knife, striking her 10 times. The wounds could have been lethal if he hadn’t been stopped. Thankfully, our sisters eldest son, who is only the age of 10, rushed to the neighbors home to call 911. If he hadn’t done as he did, we could have lost her.

Days later, she is still in the hospital receiving treatment and undergoing surgeries. She suffered several stab and laceration wounds, including one to her eye, lung and all over her face and chest. Our family is now helping to take care of the kids while our mom and a few other local family members support Marissa, and figure out the next steps in life.

While he is not the perpetrator, at the time, Marissa just got out of a controlling and abusive relationship, and was trying to start over with the kids as a single mother while staying with our grandmother. She had been lost from her family for so long and finally decided to leave the toxic environment that was holding her back. She was trying to go down the right path, which had for so long been avoided. This tragedy is too much to take on our own. With both sisters being out of state, we are trying to offer whatever support we can to all involved. However, we are also saying we need help.

All donations will be used to help with Marissa’s medical expenses as well as to help her get back onto her feet. This includes finding her and the children a safe place to live, and most importantly, to heal. Our focus right now is to mentally and physically heal from this as a family and to care for the children as our sister is unable to. The funding will also be used to help clean the tragic mess left in our grandmothers home. Right now, her home holds a constant reminder of this traumatic event that her, the kids, and of course our sister, had to experience. We truly appreciate any kind of support no matter what form it is in.
