Help The Godziks Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Donation protected
The town of Chimney Rock, North Carolina has been completely wiped out by horrific devastation brought on by Hurricane Helene. My Uncle Bruce and his wife Becca have lost everything.

My name is Jessica. I’m from Central Florida, but my family has been visiting the Lake Lure and Chimney Rock area my entire life. Before long, my Grandparents and Uncle decided to reside in this little corner of North Carolina that we all love so much.

If you’ve ever been to Chimney Rock, you know it’s a charming and quaint little town nestled beneath the iconic state park of the same name. To the right of the classic Old Rock Café stood Coffee on the Rocks; my family’s shop, where you could stop in for a delicious latte, dress up for an Old Time Photo, or both! What many didn’t know, however, is that my Uncle’s home was there too. Hurricane Helene brought torrential winds and downpours to western NC… before anyone could prepare, a devastating and unexpected nightmare became reality.

We are blessed that Bruce and Becca made it out alive and managed to evacuate to the firehouse a bit further up the hill. However, everything else was buried or swept away. Coffee on the Rocks is gone. Their home is gone. Everything they own is gone.

I am establishing this campaign to help my family rebuild their life. Our $5,000 goal will aid in replacing the necessities they’ve lost: clothing, food, hygiene products, household essentials, and more.

*UPDATE 10/09/24* After an outpouring of support, we reached our original goal of $5,000 to help with immediate relief for the necessities that my family lost. Now, we are stretching that goal to $10,000 to help fund the rebuilding of Coffee on the Rocks and my Uncle’s home.

*UPDATE 10/21/24* We are so grateful to have reached and surpassed our second goal! The support for Coffee on the Rocks and The Godzik Family continues to pour in, so per my Uncle’s request we’ve decided to shoot for the stars and expand our goal yet again. It is going to take a lot to completely rebuild the shop and Bruce’s home, after all. Thank you again to everyone for the love, contributions, and kindness!

Any and all contributions, big or small, are incredibly and greatly appreciated. If you can’t contribute a monetary donation, you can help in a big way by sharing this fundraiser on social media to help spread the word.

I have been receiving small updates and bits of information from my Grandmother, who resides nearby in Lake Lure. Communications are limited as phone, power, and internet services are out in nearly all areas. I will post updates here as I receive them.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your consideration, help, and prayers.
