Help the Good Samaritan's Widow

Donation protected
My stepfather, James (Buck) Ware recently passed on February 9, 2021. Loosing James has been such a stress on my mother, Joan Ware, his wife. The medical bills from seven days in the hospital, the death and memorial expenses without the funds they had tried to set aside has been an overwhelming strain. Your donations can ease this strain and soften this financial burden.

James tried to provide for these end of life costs. He never meant to leave her overwhelmed. After fighting pneumonia two years ago, he purchased a life insurance policy to ease his wife’s transition. With the passing of time his heart had weakened and when the pneumonia came knocking this February it attacked with a vengeance. And although he fought valiantly all of his systems succumb to the poisonous bacteria and his big heart could take no more. The insurance policy that was to take care of his end of life expenses was a few months shy of maturing, leaving its value only to the sum of what had been paid in.

The trail of receipts, phone messages, lists of names with bank account numbers, cashier’s check receipts which my mother found in James’ papers tells the story of James love and care for his fellow man. Like an elder brother, he was watching over his school mates, friends, family, and even strangers.

If a friend from the hood couldn’t make the rent, James was there. If you needed help paying for your brother’s funeral, your car was broke down, or you just need a ride to work, James was there. Because he knew what it meant to be an elder brother to his fellow man. His goal was to make this world a better place.

When Covid struck, James and my mother tried to prepare for one of them dying of Covid in yet another way. Throughout 2020 they stashed away their income tax return, their stimulus monies, and every extra penny in a savings account James had established before they married. At the beginning of 2020 it had $200 dollars but this grew to $7500 by February 2021. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that back when he opened the account years before he had named a beneficiary; making these funds unavailable to my mother.

We want to honor James memory and say our last goodbyes with the memorial he deserves. We need to raise $20,000 to cover the expenses which have been left on my mother’s shoulders. If we receive more than is needed, any additional funds will be applied to other funeral fundraisers.

It would mean a lot if you could share this fundraiser with others.

Please consider how James touched the lives of his fellow man and donate as you are able. We are so grateful for every donation during this difficult time.

Thank you so much and God bless you.
