Help the Haddad Family Through Stephen's Melanoma

Dear visitor,
Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe. If you are here, you are undoubtedly someone we care about and have been lucky enough to have in our lives. In late August, Stephen was diagnosed with late-stage Melanoma cancer. Stephen had Melanoma once before in 2010, the year we were married, and was able treat it and enjoy 11 (fun and awesome) years of remission. In that time we married, completed graduate school, followed our dreams by moving to the mountains, and brought our little girl (and best friend) Eponine, into the world! Unfortunately, the treatment options for his cancer are very limited in our mountain paradise and within two weeks of his first doctor's appointment, we were on a plane to Houston, TX to explore treatment options at MD Anderson. We had no idea how long we would be gone. Fast forward 8 weeks later, and Stephen is absolutely crushing it. He has survived brain surgery, radiation, ongoing fatigue, chronic pain, and the introduction of chemotherapy drugs targeting the tumors throughout his body. His team of doctors is chock o'block full of experts and they have given us reason to be hopeful about Stephen's future. While Stephen has achieved so much in such a short period of time, there is still a long road of treatment ahead of us. In order to ensure that Stephen gets the best quality care and our family is not separated for a long period of time, we have made the decision to leave our mountain life behind and relocate to Houston. While the decision to move has been difficult, we are grateful to have access to MD Anderson and family friends in Houston and Louisiana to reconnect with during this challenging time.

In the time that we have traveled to Houston and Stephen has begun treatment, we have both exhausted our paid time off. We have taken the painful steps to say goodbye to jobs and a community we love, and I have been able to secure a job in Houston that will ensure full insurance benefits in January. The money raised through this GoFundMe will support moving expenses, unforeseen medical bills, and Eponine-related costs, such as preschool and extracurriculars, until our income stabilizes. So many of you have reached out with the desire to help from far away and so many of you have lifted our sprits with letters, calls, texts, gifts, UberEats and Starbucks giftcards, and your thoughts and prayers. If you are still looking for a way to support us, please consider donating here.
Whether you contribute to our GoFundMe or just visit to understand what's been going on for us in the last few weeks, please continue to reach out to us to check in and share your thoughts and prayers with us. They lift our spirits and remind us what our family is fighting for!
Sincerely,
Sarabeth, Stephen, and Eponine
