Help The Happy Yogi Reopen
Donation protected
My name is Natasha and I am the owner of The Happy Yogi yoga studio. We are a small yoga studio serving the Olney area and beyond. The Happy Yogi closed its doors last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other small businesses, we have been hit hard by the pandemic. We have been lucky to stay afloat for the last year but every person working at THY has had to take a pay cut. We have had to give up our Dragonfly Room and have not been able to make full rent payments since last June. Overall our revenue has dropped over 50% which has had serious ramifications on our financial health.
As we prepare to reopen in mid to late May, I am reaching out for help. One of our incredible yogis encouraged me to open up a GoFundMe earlier in the pandemic and I have held off as long as I could. As a studio owner, I have really prided myself on remaining as independent as possible and have done my best not to shift this burden onto our students. However, I think reopening our little studio, at best, will be very difficult. At worst, we may have to remain online for the foreseeable future. And so I share these words that have been weighing on me for several months: We need your help.
The funds from this GoFundMe will go to:
- Reopening costs: HEPA air filtration unit, window fans to increase circulation of air in the space, high quality filters for our HVAC system, screens for the doors to remain open - $500
- Back rent that we owe the property owners - $15,000
- And getting teachers back to their prior pay rates
I understand this is a big ask. And I hope that this will start us up on the right foot for a successful future serving all of our yogis. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for your help, understanding, and compassion, as we work to rebuild our yoga community. We really look forward to seeing you again in person soon.
With love,
Natasha Martinez
