Help the Harb Family Survive in Gaza

Dear readers,

My name is Belal, and I am reaching out to you in a time of urgent need. My family, which includes my mother and father, four sisters, my sister’s family (herself and her three children, one of whom has autism), and our two cats, are enduring severe hardships in Gaza. They have been displaced multiple times, each move adding to their financial and emotional burden.

My Family's Struggles:

First Displacement: Al Zahra.

The journey of suffering began in Al Zahra, where their home was completely destroyed. Forced to leave everything behind, my family moved to a refugee camp, where they had to set up a tent from scratch just to survive. There is no safe place in Gaza, only a constant struggle for survival.

Second Displacement: UNRWA School Khan Younis.

Their next refuge was an UNRWA school, but this was short-lived. The school was evacuated by the IDF and subsequently destroyed, leaving my family homeless once again.

Third Displacement: Rafah.

In Rafah, they attempted to find refuge, but the area soon became unsafe due to an IDF invasion. They were forced to move again, this time to another refugee camp, and had to leave some of their belongings behind with each move.

Current Situation: Between Deir Al Balah and Az Zawadya.

Currently, my family is living in a tent between Deir Al Balah and Az Zawadya. Two entire families are crammed into one tent, struggling to stay safe and maintain their dignity. Every time they are displaced, they incur huge costs and must carry all their belongings with them, making an already difficult situation even more challenging.

The living conditions in Gaza are dire. There is no clean water, food is scarce and exorbitantly priced, and humanitarian aid is often inaccessible. My family has to pay for everything out of pocket, including basic necessities. One of my nephews has autism and requires special care, including diapers, which are extremely costly and hard to find.

Apart from this, they are sharing their own food with the cats, unfortunately, they were 3 cats and one has passed away due to malnutrition and illness, cats food is extremely rare and hard to find as well, but even in those conditions, my family is doing their best for our beloved cats, even if that means sharing their food with them.

My Plight: Dealing with Two Wars.

While my family faces these hardships in Gaza, my wife and I are also victims of war. We fled the conflict in Ukraine and sought refuge in the Netherlands. Now, I am dealing with the emotional turmoil of two wars – one in Gaza and the other in Ukraine. The financial strain is immense, and the emotional toll is even greater.
