Help the Hays Following Family Tragedy

This spring, my friend Travis Hay, experienced an unimaginable tragedy when his parents Robert and Shaunie died on the same day. Not only did Travis lose his parents, but his wife Jennifer lost her in-laws of more than 22 years, and their 8-year-old son, Gavin, lost his grandparents.

Since that tragic day, Travis and Jennifer have incurred many unexpected expenses. It's caused unforeseen financial hardship when they should be given the grace to focus solely on healing.

There hasn't been much time to heal, though. As an only child, Travis has had to singlehandedly work on clearing the home where his mom and dad spent the last 23 years of their lives. It's been an overwhelming task with a hefty price tag.

While clearing the home, he and Jennifer have been responsible for paying his parents' utilities in addition to their monthly rent. You see Travis's parents were working-class people. Like many Americans, they lived paycheck-to-paycheck. There isn't life insurance or savings to help relieve the financial weight.

I know there are many of us who want to help in any way we can, so if you're able to offer a donation, it would mean a great deal. Money will never bring Gavin's Nana and Grandpa Bob back, but it can help alleviate some of the financial anxiety and allow the family the space they need to grieve and heal.

It was really important to Travis that he be transparent with any money that's generously given. All money raised from this GoFundMe campaign will be spent in the following ways:

Any additional money that surpasses the $7,500 goal will go towards a college fund for Gavin.
