Help the Herhuth’s help Jake battle cancer

Donation protected
My name is Michelle. I am a fellow “cancer parent”. I met Gina, Jake’s mom during one of the endless days on Rainbow 7. The fundraising for my daughter was abundant. I hope that this Go Fund me will help lessen the financial burden on the Herhuth family and allow Gina to continue to stay at Jake’s side without financial worry. Believe me, she needs 100% of her mind to focus on Jake and help him through this. Here is the background on his story. Jake was diagnosed with AML leukemia in March of 2022. He was hospitalized at Rainbow Babies in Cleveland from March until October of 2022. His care was transferred to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus in October where he prepared for a bone marrow transplant in December of 2022. His sister Bella was his donor and a perfect match. After the transplant cycle, Jake and his mom(Gina) had to stay within an hour of the hospital for 100 days. After the 100 days they could head home to Columbia Station to be with the rest of their family. Jake would be on restrictions for up to 1 year post transplant, but at least they would all be together again as a family. However, on day 99(March 29, 2023), Jake went in for his bone marrow biopsy and the unimaginable had happened. Jake had already relapsed and 80% leukemia was found in his marrow. The transplant failed.
Jake did get to go home for a week and was then admitted for Cycle 1 on April 5th. The plan was to get him in remission so that he could have a 2nd transplant. After 40 days of Cycle 1, they did another bone marrow biopsy that showed he no longer had cancer in his marrow. He was in remission. He is currently in his 2nd cycle of chemo as of May 25th. They wanted to do a 2nd cycle of chemo, as he awaits transplant. Once his counts recover, he will get to go home for a week before he admits again on July 11. The transplant is scheduled for July 21. Jake and Gina will need to stay in the area again for 100 days post transplant. It is Jake’s wish to be able to stay outside of the hospital setting during that 100 days. Every bit of the money raised here will go toward making that wish come true as well as toward easing the burden of medical bills, household bills and overall expenses. The success of this fundraiser will help relieve financial stress as Gina continues to be by Jake's side. Jake has battled this disease for 15 months now and he continues to fight. The family is grateful for every donation, large or small.
