Help the Hill Family rebuild from Helene.

We are the Hill family: Brian, Susie, and our 9-year-old daughter, Lucy. We live in the Cattail Creek area of Western North Carolina. We are both teachers in the community and have dedicated our lives to serving Yancey County.

On Friday, September 27, an unprecedented double storm hit Western North Carolina, including Hurricane Helene. It dropped 31 inches of rain on us.

Our house, while not in the flood plain, was completely flooded by rushing waters that slammed through our house, ate away the foundation, and destroyed our dream home and barn. We were left with the clothes we took into our truck and the stuffed animals my daughter saved by putting them onto the top bunk of her bed.

We lost family heirlooms, all of our furniture, our house, our camper, everything.

We love it here and are crushed by the devastation that has occurred here. We have spent everyday since then helping neighbors and doing what we can for the community.

We are raising money to rebuild our historic home, move it to a new foundation, restore the historic nature of our house and rebuild our lives in the wake of this immense tragedy.
