Help the Hintons

For the past almost two weeks, since Sunday, 10/6, our family was experiencing a nightmare. My sweet dad has been in the ICU after being the victim of a violent attack, and was fighting for his life. It was one of the hardest things I’ve been through...seeing my dad completely unresponsive, and no one could tell us if he would make it through. We witnessed a miracle though, as he slowly but surely started making progress and coming back to us. He was extubated a few days ago, which was huge! Yesterday he was finally transferred to a step down unit of the ICU, and Friday, 10/18, was transferred to rehabilitation! He still cannot swallow or speak, but we are praying that he will be able to very soon! His active, healthy lifestyle has been a major factor and plus in his recovery so far. All of his doctors and nurses are blown away and have said that he is a miracle. He has a long road ahead with rehabilitation, but we are so thankful that he is still here and making progress every day.

This has understandably been a very difficult time for everyone, but especially my mom. It has also been wonderful how our family has been coming together to work through this.

Please understand that we cannot post about the details of how he was attacked, since it is still an active investigation.

Please continue to give my mom space to go through this, because although everyone means well, it adds stress being inundated with texts, messages, and calls. Since my dad has not been able to work, and we have no idea how long it may be if he is even able to ever return to working, he will have no money coming in. If anyone feels it in their heart to donate any amount to help my parents right now, it would be so appreciated. Meals would not be as needed since my dad is unable to eat and my mom is limited on what she is able to stomach right now.
