Help the Homeless Mobile Drive

Hello, my name is Iman Abdel-Latif and I am fundraising with my dear friend Sarah Abbas to raise money for a Homeless Mobile Drive. This is our first drive, but not our last.

 

What: We will assemble hygiene kits and meals that will be distributed to homeless people in the D.C area. The hygiene kit will include; Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body wash, Tooth Paste, a Tooth Brush, 2 Razors, 7 Pads, 1 pack of 20 Wet Wipes, a Cleaning Cloth, and a Reusable Bag. The meal will consist of 2 sandwiches; 1 turkey and 1 chicken, 2 bags of chips, and 2 water bottles.

 

Goal: Our goal is to collect $500 by October 3rd and place orders on the same day.

 

Why:

The District’s homeless population increased 34 percent between 2009 and 2016, according to a U.S. Conference of Mayor's report on hunger and homelessness.

Homelessness in D.C. is 2x larger than the national average according to Central Union Mission, a social services organization located in D.C.

 

Evidently, homelessness in the D.C community is an alarming and ongoing conflict that affects the lives of many. We want to serve our community by easing the burden on these individuals and provide them with a meal and hygiene products. This is just the beginning, down the line we plan to provide more and/or different products to help in any way we can.

 

Who: We are aiming to serve 50 people in need.

 

How: We are doing a Homeless Mobile Drive for their convenience so we will be traveling to their location. We will reach more people this way because they tend to be in groups in different areas of the region so we can provide for many in a small area, or if they’re alone we can stop by and give our kits to them.
