Help the Hunters Rebuild After Losing Their Son

Donation protected
Wahkil Hunter was a loving, charismatic high-school senior with dreams of becoming an electrician one day. He was known for his smile, his charm, his incredibly strong moral compass, and so much more. On April 6th, he was the victim of gun violence outside his home in North Philadelphia. He was two months from being the first in his family to graduate from high school, and the thing he wanted most in the world was to support his mom and make her proud. Now, his mother Tasha and her six children need stable housing outside of the neighborhood that took their beloved son and brother.

Wahkil was part of the founding class at Vaux Big Picture High School. From day one, he was a pillar both for staff and for his peers--ALWAYS doing what was right, and going out of his way to show compassion. He would routinely help break up fights (even while his peers were recording or laughing), would wait after school to walk his friends home, and would never hesitate to sit down and strike up a conversation with the new kid or anyone sitting alone.

At Vaux, students participate in internships two days a week to pursue their passions. Since day one, Wahkil knew he wanted to be an electrician and dreamed of running his own contracting business one day. He was an intern at The Academy of Industrial Arts; in his senior exhibition, he detailed his dreams for his future, explained the steps he was already taking to learn the trade, and expressed gratitude for his family, and the mentors and teachers who supported him throughout his high school journey.  Watch him describe his dreams in his own words below.
