Help the Jacksons during this difficult time

Hey everyone. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read all of this. I do apologize as I will fumble through this and get emotional as I write it, which will cause me to bounce around.

The past month and a bit have not been kind to the Jackson family. On January 15th Dawn was in the hospital and was informed that she had an aggresive cancer to battle.

I can say that I am hopeful for a miracle based on everything that has unfolded since. Timelines have significantly changed sadly as the cancer is spreading so quickly. I visited Dawn on Wednesday this week, and she had just received news that it had now spread to her brain.

The hardest thing for me to say right now is that the short time frames that existed a month ago are now a complete unknown as they have changed. They have changed so much that I am calling on each of you to please do whatever you can during these difficult times, and to share this with anyone who can help.

Dawn has always had a heart of gold, and this family deserves to be able to do whatever they want. If they choose to take a final family trip together if Dawn is strong enough, or if Jackson can stay home from work when she is too weak, they deserve to not have to stress about any finances right now.

Never in a million years would they ever ask for this. This is myself put against the ropes as a friend/family member who has been put into a fight that I cannot help with. I won't be able to help her fight to make her feel better, but I can help her to peacefully share some memories with her family and know that they have options during her battle.

I am calling on every one of you to please find a way to help. This is something you never want to see anyone have to go through, and it kills me that it is happening to someone I am so close with. Please make this time as comfortable as possible and help them to alleviate any current or upcoming financial stress between them and their wonderful daughter.

However they choose to spend the money will be up to them. They can take a trip, they can have Mike stay home to help Dawn, or they can leave any left over to help with Montanas education. This will be entirely their decision during this time, as the important thing is that they are able to spend time together as a family without financial stress hanging over them.

I know each of you will want to reach out for updates or to ask if there are other ways that you can help, but please be mindful of the pain that those conversations can cause on their own.

I will also be organizing a softball tournament this summer to help raise more money and DCAO (Defence Council Association of Ottawa) will be hosting their own fundraising event to assist as well.
