Help the Kopperud Family Rebuild

Donation protected
I write to you today with a heavy heart, filled with worry for my daughter Ashley's family, the Kopperud's, who have faced unimaginable hardship over the past year and a half. As a mother and grandmother, it pains me deeply to see my loved ones in such distress, and it is with a humble spirit that I reach out for your kindness and support on their behalf.

On November 2022, while celebrating their 11th year anniversary away from home, a catastrophic event struck their lives. A frozen pipe in their third-story bathroom burst, unleashing a flood that devastated their entire home. Within hours, their world turned upside down, leaving them with nothing but the clothes they had packed for their weekend getaway. The destruction was complete, erasing 12 years of memories and belongings in the blink of an eye.

Their insurance provider, initially promised support and allocated a 5-month timeline for the restoration of their home. However, nearly a year and a half later, their home remains uninhabitable, stripped to the studs, with every attempt to move forward met with resistance and bureaucratic indifference. The financial strain has been unimaginable; not only have they exhausted their savings, but they are also burdened with the dual obligations of rent and a mortgage. Despite their relentless efforts to repair, the insurance company has withdrawn its helping hand, refusing to cover additional living expenses (ALE), approve claims for the contents destroyed, or release funds to get repairs started. This has forced the family to bear the financial burden of both rent and mortgage, draining resources that could have been dedicated to rebuilding their lives.

To compound their suffering, six months into this ordeal, the day of having to move out of one of the rental properties, the stress took a severe toll on Bobby's health, leading to a respiratory arrest that left him in a medically induced coma for two weeks. This unforeseen medical emergency has piled hundreds of thousands in medical bills on top of their existing financial strain.

Throughout this trying period, the Kopperud children have faced instability and displacement, moving homes four times and spending significant occasions like Thanksgiving and Christmas away from the warmth and comfort of their childhood home. This situation has not only disrupted their education but also estranged them from their community and friends.

We turn to you, our compassionate community and friends, not to just share in the burden of the Kopperud family, but to lift them from the depths of despair. Your donations will provide the Kopperud family with the financial support they desperately need to navigate this crisis—covering living expenses, medical bills, and the reconstruction of their home. It's more than just a donation; it's a beacon of hope, a testament to human kindness, and a chance to bring a family back from the brink.

The Kopperud family has faced this storm with unwavering dignity, too proud to ask for help. Let us be the wind at their backs, pushing them towards brighter days. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a monumental difference in their journey towards recovery and stability.

Thank you for considering a donation to the Kopperud family's GoFundMe. Together, we can rebuild not just a house, but a home filled with love, hope, and the promise of new beginnings.
