Help the Kubon Family Rebuild After Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Like so many others in Altadena, the Kubon Family suffered an incredible loss due to the fast spread of the disastrous Eaton Fire. On the night of January 7th, we safely evacuated with our family, dogs, and what little we could gather. On January 8th our family home of 33 years burned to the ground.

While our situation is not unique based on the widespread devestation in Altadena, the Kubon family home was. It was a place to gather, celebrate, and come together with love ones, friends, and the community. It was home to not only to our direct family, but it was also home to countless soccer and baseball parties, birthdays, graduations, and wedding showers. During the Halloween and Christmas season, our home's decorations were a neighborhood favorite with community members driving far out of the way to stop by our home and enjoy. We frequently made lasting connections with our neighbors throughout Altadena through this beloved tradition.

Fruit from our avocado, peach, and lemon trees were free for picking and as our children were raised, there was an open door policy for any of the kids in the neighborhood to come by. Year round, our street often echoed with laughter, the popping of nerf guns, and the sound of BMX bikes. It was a safe harbor where board games, homecooked food, and wine were always on the menu.

Now, like so many others in our community, we are mourning the loss of our family home. Not for the items inside, but for the memories and connections we made within.

When you lose everything, it is hard to know where to start, or even know what you need in the moment. While the dust settles and our family figures out our next steps, we kindly ask to donate to our recovery fund if you feel compelled. It doesn't matter if it is $5 or $500, any amount helps during this extremely difficult time.

As time goes on and we have needs for more tangible items or services, we will be sure to make those needs known so others can help in their own way. However with the looming financial burden that comes with losing your home, donating to this fund is the best way to help in the immediate term.

Thank you all so much, please keep our Altadena community in your thoughts and prayers.

Love,
The Kubons
