Help The Kurraz Family Evacuate Gaza

Donation protected
My name is Razan Kurraz and this is my story:
It has been over 10 months since the war in Gaza began, and its devastating impact has been profound. The war displaced 1.5 million people, claimed the lives of more than 30,000 people, and left more than 70,000 civilians injured. We are one of the lucky families to have survived so far.

On October 20, my family had to evacuate our home in Gaza City due to the brutal war to search for “safe” shelter in Rafah. They fled with only the clothes we were wearing. On April 5, my family received news that the house we were living in had been leveled by an Israeli airstrike. There is no way to express how sad we are to lose everything, to have no home to return to, and to realize that all our memories, family photos, possessions, and the neighborhood we lived in together are gone forever along with the loss of Dad's job that we depended on. We live in Alnussirat camp and the food shortage has become severe.Al-nussiart houses a lot of civilians, and there are one million ongoing air strikes with Israeli missiles on civilian homes every moment. People also expect a ground invasion by Israeli forces into the camp at any moment.

It hurts us deeply every time , hearing about our fear of air strikes and daily conflicts. Our father, 52, told us about his tiring routine of waking up at 4 a.m. to stand in line at the bakery for hours to secure a bag of bread. Our younger brothers always share with us their longing for a normal life. And to eat chocolate, sweets, and delicious food. They miss going to school, meeting friends, and the simple pleasures of being children. Our mother cries on the phone because she is unable to provide healthy food to my brothers.

The decision to leave my family from Gaza is not an easy one. We fear for our lives, and I do too. We have reached a point where the hope of a decent life in Gaza has ended. Our father's emotional words echoed in our mind: "I want our dignity back."

Evacuating from this situation is the priority. We fear for my family and I desperately need every single one of them to survive. I hope this fundraiser will enable us to safely evacuate to Egypt, recover from the trauma, and find hope in a new life. We are very grateful to all the people who have contributed towards my educational expenses when I finish my master's degree and to everyone who is reading this and supporting our efforts to bring us to safety. I look forward to one day being able to pay this kindness forward.
