Help for Hallie Kyed

Hallie James Kyed turned 2 on March 28, 2023. She loves princesses (LOVES them), Grogu, and her big sister Olivia. She is sweet and inquisitive, and recently was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Her diagnosis came quickly, less than a week after she first showed serious signs of illness. Hallie is currently being treated at Boston Children’s Hospital, the country’s #1 pediatric hospital.

Hallie started chemotherapy just a few days after her diagnosis, and her full treatment plan is still being determined. At this point, it’s unclear how long Hallie will be in the hospital, but it will be for an extended period. We are rallying support for the Kyed family as they navigate the world of pediatric medical care, in addition to supporting their other daughter, Olivia.

All funds raised will be used to help the Kyed family with the costs associated with Hallie’s medical care including:

* Lodging

* Gas

* Parking

* Food

* Additional support for Olivia

* Other unexpected costs for Hallie

More about Acute Myeloid Leukemia: AML starts in the bone marrow (the soft inner part of certain bones, where new blood cells are made), but most often it quickly moves into the blood, as well. It can sometimes spread to other parts of the body including the lymph nodes, liver, spleen, and central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). According to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, only about 500 children are found to have AML in the U.S. each year. (It is much more common in adults.) However, it is the most common second cancer among children treated for other cancers.

The Kyed family has faced many struggles in recent years, and we are hoping this financial support can help ease some of the anxiety associated with this new world they are navigating. Hallie is a strong little girl, and we are relieved she is receiving the best care in the world. We will provide updates as we can!
