Help the Lam Family Save their Home

The Lam family is dealing with a sinkhole from their front yard to the back yard which may threaten the foundation of one side of their home. This is from a burial pit, left by likely developers/builders of the residential neighborhood. They fill the pit with their construction wastes and cover it up with dirt instead of hauling it away to cut costs. Several decades later the land will sink as the trash decomposes. Proper repair involves extensive removal of all the debris by experienced contractors. Landfills charge each load per ton. They will then fill it back up with clean dirt and resod. This is estimated to cost the Lams $60,000 but as the team began digging, they find the situation to be more and more complex and likely more expensive. The Law in Georgia has a statute of limitations of 8 years. Most sink holes will not start forming for decades later. The ones responsible will likely get away scot free and the homeowners pay the price.

The Lams are good people. They are hardworking Georgians raising their two year old Henry. They are expecting another son early in August. They were just looking for an honest home to raise their young family but were met with this difficult situation with no support. They never expected something like this to happen, especially within Metro Atlanta. They were denied help from their home insurance as with any other Georgia resident who might deal with this sinkhole issue.
