Help the Landry Family Recover after the Eaton Fire

Donation protected
Friends and Family,

Thank you to everyone that has reached out to us to make sure we are okay and to offer help. It means more to us than you will ever know.

The shock is wearing off today 1/9 and we are just now coming to terms with the total devastation that has happened. We live in Altadena. On Tuesday night 1/7, the winds were approaching 60-80mph and we could see fire on the hill by Eaton Canyon, so we made the snap decision to evacuate. We feared that maybe a tree would fall on the house and decided it was better to be safer than sorry, and decided to wait it out down in Eagle Rock/Mount Washington with our parents. We put the kids and dogs in the cars and didn’t pack much else. We thought we would be able to come back the next day or so to clean up and get back to normal.

Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to return to normal any time soon. Yesterday we were able to see with our own eyes that there is nothing to go back to. Our house and all our possessions are completely gone. Our neighborhood is gone. A lifetime of memories and the only home that Ollie and Nico have known is gone.

The kids are devastated by this loss and the grief is hitting us in waves. It’s like a stab to the heart every time we think of something big or small and realize we will never see it again. The family heirlooms, Oliver’s new room and setup, Nico’s stuffies. The ashes of our old pets. All the boy’s swim gear and championship mementos. All gone.

For us, the top priority is to bring some sort of sense of stability back for the boys to help them feel a little bit more normal by getting back into their routines of school in La Canada and swimming with Spartans and ROSE.

We are lucky our families are supportive and are temporarily hosting us, but what we really need is to get back closer to our regular orbit.

Today we started the hard work of trying to recover. We are putting in insurance claims and hoping it is enough, but realizing it probably won’t be. Given the scope and magnitude of the devastation it’ll be months, if not years before we can rebuild a home.

We are normally independent and would never ask for help or even want to feel like we are imposing, but we’re realizing that we are going to need help. So we are putting aside that stubborn pride and asking for help. We are grateful for any form of help you can offer.

We would also really be very thankful for any connections to help us find a place to live in the La Crescenta/La Canada/Pasadena/Altadena/Eagle Rock areas, followed by any connections to professionals to help us get the planning and permitting process started for rebuilding in Altadena.

Again, our deepest and most sincere thanks to all those that have reached out and offered us help. You have been the bright lights we need in this dark time for us.

With love and hope,
