The Lea Family is well-known in the Amateur Radio community. Recently, James underwent heart surgery and the procedure didn't go as planned. Here is a note from Michelle that was posted to Facebook earlier this week:
James was supposed to have his mitral valve worked on because his got damaged. After many procedures the doctors involved thought that doing a minimally invasive surgery going in from the side to fix it would be very doable and get the job done.
So the doctors set out to do this at 8:15 yesterday morning. Within 45 minutes the nurse in the OR called to say that James's vitals had tanked and they had to crack him open.
Another hour later I got a call saying they were still having trouble with his oxygen levels and that they thought they would need to also deal with his Tricuspid valve and wanted to get my permission since he was still under sedation. I have permission and they immediately hung up the phone.
They had told me going in that they would call me every 2 hours to update me during what they expected to be about a 4 hour operation.
So 4 hours after the last call about the tricusid I still hadn't heard anything so I called. The person I spoke to said she usually would have heard something by now, but had knew nothing.
I have spoken to Michelle and received permission to start this GFM project. Please show your support for the Lea family during this uncertain time.
